    Description

Presented here is a Victorian era, English, sterling silver, hand chased, cigarette case. An evaluator had informed the family that this box probably dates from 1872 and was likely produced in England by
Berthold Muller.   Hallmarks clearly establish that it is made from sterling silver, likely in London, but we're still unsure about who the maker was. It is also possible that this item was created by Mappin & Webb of London.  Box is lined with a fine grained wood, possibly cedar. We have intentionally retained the original patina, leaving it up to the next owner to polish and brighten it as they see fit. This lovely box measures 7 ½ “ long, 3 ½ “ deep, and 2 ½ “ tall, and total weight is 446 grams. This box could clearly be repurposed as a trinket/jewelry box or for other valuables.
